The Palest of Purples

Aug 05, 20130 CommentsCase Studies, Light Colors

I was doing a color consultation for an entire house. The house was a lovely traditional side hall Colonial. The client wanted warm traditional colors that would not call too much attention to the walls but would blend nicely with the furnishings. As we were going upstairs to choose colors for the bedrooms she said, “I’d like to do something a little different in my office/study.”

“Wonderful”, I said. I thought that was a great idea. After all the warm beiges we had picked it was time for something else. We chose the palest of purples, very subtle with a lot of gray in it, Benjamin Moore Winter Gray 2117-60. The room looks fabulous with a deeper shade of mauve that was picked for the carpeting. We painted the woodwork bright white which enhances the pale purple and makes it stand out. It was just the right touch for an office/study, light and airy in feel with just a touch of a feminine flavor.
